Candle Care & Safety

Good candles deserve good care. Follow these steps and your candle will burn evenly, smell better, and last longer.

The First Burn

The most important burn. Let the wax pool reach all the way to the edges of the tin — this takes 2–3 hours. Skipping this causes tunneling, and you'll never fully recover from it.

Trim the Wick

Before every single burn, trim the wick to ¼ inch. A long wick produces a large, sooty flame. A trimmed wick burns clean and even. Nail scissors or a proper wick trimmer both work.

Burn Time Limits

Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Beyond that, the tin gets hot enough to be a hazard and the wick can start to drift. Blow it out, let it cool completely, then relight.

Storage

Put the lid on between burns. This protects the scent and keeps dust off the wax surface. Store away from direct sunlight — UV degrades fragrance and can discolor soy wax.

Safety

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from drafts, vents, and fans — they cause uneven burns and potential flare-ups. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Burn on a heat-resistant surface.

When to Stop

Stop burning when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom. Below that, the tin can overheat. This is also your cue to clean and reuse the tin.

Clean & Reuse Your Tin

Freeze the tin overnight to pop out the remaining wax. Remove the wick tab. Rinse with warm soapy water. The tin is yours — use it for a travel kit, a succulent planter, spice storage, or whatever it becomes.
